Transient Vendor Program

If your name has already been added to the list, you do not need to add it again in future years. The list does not expire. Once your name is included, you only need to contact the Township if you wish to have it removed.

Transient Vendors interested in doing business in Howland Township will be required to submit an application in advance of their solicitation. The information will be verified with our Police Department, and the vendor will be required to pay a $150.00 fee. They will be given a list of rules, including the hours during which they are permitted to solicit and the requirement to carry a copy of the approved permit, Township-issued ID, and a photo ID with them at all times. The regulations will prohibit solicitation in residences or businesses that display signage prohibiting peddling or solicitation.

The Township will compile a “No Knock” or “No Solicitation” list, which will be provided to vendors at the time of approval, along with the rules. Vendors are solely responsible for retrieving the updated “No Solicitation” list from the Township Website. Vendors will be prohibited from soliciting at residences or businesses appearing on the list. In addition, you may download the “No Solicitation” sign from the link below, print a copy, and place it in a conspicuous place at the front of your residence, or you may purchase a similar one from a store of your choice.

Please do not hesitate to call the Township Administration Offices with questions @ 330-856-2340. If you have concerns about a vendor knocking at your door, call the Non-Emergency number for Trumbull County Dispatch @ 330-675-2730.

You have every right to ask for credentials and are under no obligation to listen to their sales pitch or information.
