Howland Natural Gas Endorsement Program

(UPDATE – February 26, 2026)

(UPDATE- February 24, 2026)

We are pleased to announce the offering of a Natural Gas Endorsement Program for residents and small businesses. Howland Township has entered into an agreement with Eastern Power & Gas LLC to offer program members an 18-month fixed rate of $4.70 per Mcf. This program is voluntary; to become a member, you must “Opt-In.” Due to the delay related to the previous post below (Feb. 9, 2026) regarding the temporary suspension, this program will begin in April 2026 and continue through September 2027. Eastern Power and Gas will notify all Howland residents and small commercial customers of the program in the coming weeks. The letter will explain the terms, conditions, and rate of the offer. There is no early termination fee. A separate page on the Township website will be dedicated to the program, with additional details and FAQs. This program gives residents and small businesses the flexibility to choose without automatically locking them into a rate. Doing nothing would either keep you with your current program supplier or revert you to the standard choice.

(UPDATE – February 9, 2026)

The Howland Township aggregation application has been temporarily suspended by order of the Administrative Judge. Palmer Energy (Trumbull County Program) has requested that the PUCO review our application before its automatic 30-day approval. We have been working directly with the PUCO to rectify this situation and will continue to be diligent in planning to achieve the best rate we can for our residents and businesses.

(UPDATE – January 28, 2026)

Howland Township is currently awaiting PUCO approval on our gas aggregation program. This is the same process we are mandated to follow each time we offer a program. We anticipate an announcement sometime in the first week of February that will include enrollment details and contact information for our supplier, Eastern Petroleum and Gas, as well as Buckeye Energy Brokers.

Howland Township, OH — December 18, 2025

At their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, December 18, the Howland Township Board of Trustees approved steps to establish a new natural gas aggregation program for Township residents and businesses.

As part of this action, Township Trustees approved an agreement with Buckeye Energy Brokers to seek and administer a gas aggregation program on behalf of Howland Township customers. The Board also authorized the Township Administrator to execute an agreement with Eastern Power and Gas LLC as the preferred natural gas supplier for the program. The approved aggregation program will commence on March 1, 2026, and continue through the gas flow month of September 2027, providing a total program term of 19 months.

Under the approved agreement, participating customers will receive a fixed natural gas supply rate of $4.70 per MCF, excluding applicable taxes and administrative fees. The program includes no enrollment fee, offering price stability and long-term budgeting certainty for residents and local businesses.

The natural gas aggregation program is designed to leverage the Township’s collective buying power to secure competitive pricing while providing consumers with an additional choice. Eligible residents and businesses will receive further information before the program start date, including opt-out instructions and program details, as required by law.

Additional updates and enrollment information will be posted on the Howland Township website as the program launch approaches.
